We are super excited to announce that Loose Cannons is an OFFICIAL SELECTION at the 2016 San Francisco Comic Con Film Festival!! Thats right. We are headed to our first Con. I wonder what kind of trouble Dallas and his mustache will get into with the cosplayers? Loose Cannons will be screened Friday night September 2nd during the film fest which runs from 6:30pm through Midnight at Foothill B. All information can be found on the San Francisco Comic Con web site here. Tickets can be purchased here. Come down and meet us at the con. We should be easy to find. We will probably be the ones running from security.
We are very proud to write that we got excepted into the 14th International Oakland Film Festival. Joey Skorman will be speaking on a panel with other filmmakers. The screening and panel will be on closing day, this Saturday, in the 2:30-4:30 short film block at the historic Geoffrey's Inner Circle in downtown Oakland, CA. You can listen to an interview with Joey on ep. 80 of the Los Angeles-based DOOMTOWN podcast here. Purchase tickets for the event here. Thank you to OIFF for supporting local filmmakers like us.
One of our directors - Joey Skorman, is headed down to the DoomTown podcast. Where they will be talking about doom and gloom, staying sharp while being loose, and other shenanigans. If you haven't been listening to DOOMTOWN, go get a lolly pop, some ice cream, and a kitty cat 'cause reality can seem scary at times, and laughter seems like a good approach to beating the shit out of fear.
We have returned from the magic that is Marfa! What an amazing experience. This type of artful curation of films this interestedly put together reminds me of Sundance in the 90's. The modernity of food, art, and decor, all clashes with it's country surroundings in the most sublime way. From the enchanting evening of Chrysta Bell's performance before the overwhelmingness of the Texas night sky gets punched with the light of the Alamo Draft House's portable film projector truck screening Paul Newman's HUD, to the Bazaar Marfa, to the late-nite blow-out dance parties, from the attendees and volunteers, to the film maker's and film goer's the whole thing was something made of magic, and that magic was loose as fuck.
We are so proud to announce, with our first blog post, that we are an official selection at this years Marfa Film Festival. For those who don't know about the magic that is Marfa, here a link to an NPR story for you to sink your teeth into. We are still high off of being selected, high off the friends we've met, and high off the ones we will meet. We are humbled and drunk with excitement for the up-and-coming festivities. You can get more information about the festival at the links listed below. Marfa, stay sharp…. stay sharp. #StaySharpBeLoose #DrunkWithGratitude #LooseCannons
